Report: Miami’s Ephraim Banda Agrees To Become Utah State’s Defensive Coordinator

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Miami Hurricanes co-defensive coordinator Ephraim Banda agreed to become Utah State’s next defensive coordinator, according to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman and Manny Navarro.

On Sunday, January 3, the college football insiders reported Banda’s addition to Blake Anderson’s staff.

USU hired Anderson as the Aggies’ head football coach on December 12, 2020.

In addition to Banda, Feldman and Navarro reported two more coaches would join Utah State’s coaching staff.

“UM senior analyst Mike Zuckerman will become the ILB coach for the Aggies. Alex Devine also is expected to join the USU staff, sources tell me and @Manny_Navarro,” Feldman tweeted.

About Ephraim Banda

Prior to his coaching career, Banda played college football at Incarnate Word.

Following his playing days, Banda entered the coaching world in 2011.

For the past five seasons, he has served as Miami’s safeties coach.

In each of the last two years, Banda has been the Hurricanes’ co-defensive coordinator as well as safeties coach.

Miami finished the 2020 season with a No. 18 national ranking.

The Hurricanes posted an 8-3 record, including a loss to No. 21 Oklahoma State in the Cheez-It Bowl.
