PROVO, Utah – BYU football locked up its tenth victory of the 2020 season after defeating former Mountain West rival San Diego State 28-14. The late-night victory over the Aztecs didn’t do much to impress the pollsters in two of the major Top 25 polls.

BYU remained at No. 16 in the Amway Coaches poll and No. 14 in the AP Top 25.

As of right now, the Cougars have concluded their regular season with a 10-1 record. The lone loss was against Coastal Carolina who remains undefeated at 11-0 after defeating Troy on Saturday.

BYU head coach Kalani Sitake said after the San Diego State game that he would like to play another game on December 19th if the Cougars aren’t slated to play in a bowl game during the upcoming weekend.

The Cougars are one of only four teams that have 10 wins or more in the Top 25 polls. No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Notre Dame, and No. 9 Coastal Carolina are the other three.

BYU is expected to receive a bowl bid during the bowl season due to its affiliation with ESPN. ESPN is contracted to give BYU a bid in an ESPN Events bowl game.
