Washington Claims No. 1 Spot In KSL Sports Pac-12 Power Rankings

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Washington Huskies are the No. 1 team in the latest KSL Sports Pac-12 Power Rankings.

UW picked up a 24-21 win over Utah at home in comeback fashion to improve to 3-0 this season.

Here is the KSL Sports Pac-12 Power Rankings ahead of the fifth week of the 2020 season.

North Division

1. Washington Huskies (3-0)

Previous Result: Beat Utah, 24-21 at home

Recap: Utah was firing on all cylinders in the first half, scoring 21 points and didn’t allow the Huskies to score. The second half was completely different as the Utes were shutout and Washington dropped 24 points to complete the comeback as Cade Otton caught the game-winning touchdown with 36 seconds left in the game.

Dylan Morris passed for 272 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Otton caught 8 passes for 108 yards and 2 TD’s.

2. No. 15 Oregon Ducks (3-1)

Previous Result: Lost to Oregon State, 41-38 on the road

Recap: Oregon had a 24-13 lead heading into the halftime break. Each team scored a touchdown in the third quarter before the craziness took place in the fourth quarter. Officiating late in the game was questionable at best. The Beavers scored two unanswered TD’s early in the fourth quarter to take a three-point lead. The Ducks responded with a touchdown with under 9 minutes left to take a 38-34 lead. After Tristan Gebbia got hurt on a goal line play, backup Chance Nolan ran in the go-ahead TD with 33 seconds left to give the Beavers the upset win.

Tyler Shough threw for 285 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, while running in another TD. Devon Williams caught four passes for 101 yards and a score.

3. Oregon State Beavers (2-2)

Previous Result: Beat No. 15 Oregon, 41-38 at home

Recap: Oregon had a 24-13 lead heading into the halftime break. Each team scored a touchdown in the third quarter before the craziness took place in the fourth quarter. Officiating late in the game was questionable at best. The Beavers scored two unanswered TD’s early in the fourth quarter to take a three-point lead. The Ducks responded with a touchdown with under 9 minutes left to take a 38-34 lead. Jermar Jefferson was outstanding as he set a rivalry record with 226 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Gebbia threw for 263 yards and one touchdown and ran in another. Kolby Taylor had 7 receptions for 114 yards.

4. Stanford Cardinal (1-2)

Previous Result: Beat California, 24-23 on the road

Recap: It was a tightly contested game throughout. Stanford took a 24-17 lead entering the fourth quarter. The only touchdown in the final period came with 58 seconds left as Christopher Brown Jr. ran in a three-yard touchdown. Stanford blocked the PAT to secure the win.

Davis Mills passed for 205 yards and one touchdown. Austin Jones racked up 85 yards and two TD’s.

5. Washington State Cougars (1-1)

Previous Result: Game Canceled

Recap: Washington State’s game against Washington was canceled due to COVID-19 cases in the Cougars’ program.

6. California Golden Bears (0-3)

Previous Result: Lost to Stanford, 24-23 at home

Recap: It was a tightly contested game throughout. Stanford took a 24-17 lead entering the fourth quarter. The only touchdown in the final period came with 58 seconds left as Christopher Brown Jr. ran in a three-yard touchdown. Stanford blocked the PAT to secure the win.

Chase Garbers threw for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Damien Moore piled up 121 rushing yards.

South Division

1. No. 18 USC Trojans (3-0)

Previous Result: Game Canceled

Recap: USC’s game against Colorado last week was canceled after the Trojans had positive COVID-19 tests.

2. Colorado Buffaloes (3-0)

Previous Result: Beat San Diego State, 20-10 at home

Recap: Colorado jumped out to a 14-0 lead before the Aztecs responded with 10 unanswered points before halftime. The Buffaloes managed to make two field goals in the second half while shutting out San Diego State.

Sam Noyer threw for 138 yards, one touchdown and one pick, while running in a score. Jarek Broussard racked up 124 yards on 32 carries.

3. UCLA Bruins (2-2)

Previous Result: Beat Arizona, 27-10 at home

Recap: Arizona scored their only touchdown of the game in the first five minutes. UCLA responded with 20 unanswered points. The Wildcats kicked a field goal in the third quarter before the Bruins closed out the win with a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Chase Griffin started in place of Dorian Thompson-Robinson for the second straight game. he threw for 129 yards and one touchdown. Demetric Felton rushed for 206 yards and one TD.

Previous Result: Lost to Washington, 24-21 on the road

Jake Bentley threw for 144 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions while adding a rushing score. Ty Jordan rushed for 97 yards. Bryan Thompson hauled in 3 receptions for 65 yards and one TD.
