Jazz, Miller Family Providing Thanksgiving Meals To Those In Need

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The COVID-19 pandemic isn’t stopping the Utah Jazz or the Miller family from continuing an annual Thanksgiving tradition.

The Jazz organization and its outgoing majority owners began their 22nd annual “We Care – We Share” event today, providing 2,500 meals to homeless and low-income residents in the state of Utah.

Unlike previous years when the Jazz welcomed local residents into the Vivint Arena to dish up the food, representatives from area emergency shelters and resource centers are transporting the meals to their sites for distribution.

“For 22 years, our family and the Jazz organization have had the honor of providing a Thanksgiving meal for those who may not otherwise enjoy a meal during the holiday,” Jazz owner Gail Miller said in the release. “Although we cannot come together in person as a community to share this year’s meal due to COVID, we feel extremely fortunate to continue to support those who need it most.”

The Utah Jazz Team Store has also donated items of clothing as part of the NBA’s annual “Season of Giving” that encourages teams to give back to their local communities during the holiday season.

Beneficiaries include 7^th Street Treatment, Eagle Ranch Ministries, First Step House, Gail Miller Resource Center, Geraldine E. King Women’s Resource Center, Magna FACT, Salt Lake City Mission, and more.
