SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Football program is now conducting virtual meetings to best assure a game is played against the USC Trojans this upcoming Saturday evening.

Utah Football is the last FBS school with scheduled games to play in 2020. They have had their last two conference games canceled some 24 hours prior to kickoff due to a shortage of players following outbreaks of COVID-19 within the program.

As Utah plans to host the USC Trojans this upcoming Saturday evening the program is doing everything it can to best assure a game is played.

Starting this week, Utah players and coaches will conduct virtual meetings before practice is held later in the afternoon. Prior to this week, the playing group would meet starting at 2:05 p.m. with a special teams meeting every day before heading out for the practice field a few hours later.

Now, the players stay home and log into their meetings virtually.

This change in scenery will likely become the new norm for a Utah program that is dying to give their younger, less experienced playing group reps against other Pac-12 opponents.

Any game played in 2020 is a win for Whittingham and his Utes. The season at this point is irrelevant, Utah will be lucky to get five games under their belt. But if they can manage to play in a handful of games, the program will be in a much better position heading into the 2021 season.

Other conference opponents are playing and are gaining experience while Utah has been stranded on their couch.

Broadcast Info

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 21st, and can be seen on ESPN.
