Silas was named the head coach of the Houston Rockets in late October.
Guthrie joined the Jazz in 2015 as an assistant coach and manager of basketball strategy and technology before leaving for the Mavericks. The coach began his career as an intern with the Austin Toros where current Jazz head coach Quin Snyder oversaw the team.
The move is the latest in a busy offseason for the Jazz coaching staff. In September, the team hired former New Orleans Pelicans general manager Dell Demps and longtime NBA veteran Keyon Dolling in assistant coaching roles.
Former assistant Johnny Bryant also left the team for the New York Knicks after the Jazz were eliminated from the playoffs.
