BYU Enters Top 10 Of Coaches Poll, Moves Up In AP Top 25

PROVO, Utah – After crushing Texas State by a score of 52-14, BYU football moves up once again in the latest national rankings. The Cougars saw a slight bump in both the Coaches and Associated Press Top 25 polls.

In each poll, BYU moved up one spot to No. 10 in the Coaches and No. 11 in the AP. BYU is one of three teams in college football this season that is 6-0. The others are the No. 1 ranked Clemson Tigers and Liberty Flames.

BYU leaped programs such as Penn State (who lost to Indiana) and Miami (close call against 1-4 Virginia). With the return of the Big Ten Conference, it caused a team to leap BYU. The Wisconsin Badgers Friday night win over Illinois catapulted the Badgers from No. 14 to No. 9 in the AP poll.

BYU now begins preparations to host 2-4 Western Kentucky on Halloween night in front of a nationally-televised ESPN audience at 8:15 p.m. (MT). That game against the Hilltoppers should serve as a tune-up to the big one for BYU against Boise State on November 6th.

The Broncos opened their season this weekend defeating Utah State 42-13. With the dominant victory, the Broncos moved in at No. 25 of the AP poll. Boise State faces Air Force this weekend before hosting BYU on “The Blue.”

BYU’s top ten ranking in the Coaches Poll is the first time the Cougars have been among the nation’s ten best teams since 2009. That season, BYU rose as high as No. 7 before falling to Florida State in week three.
