BYU is one of the hottest teams in the country right now at 5-0 and ranked No. 11 in the Coaches Poll and No. 12 in the AP Top 25. With no inventory out west until the first weekend of November, when the Pac-12 returns, ESPN is showcasing this streaking BYU team to the nation.
BYU and Western Kentucky is a one-game series added to the Cougars schedule back in August, weeks before the start of the college football season. Just months after the two programs had a heated National Championship battle in April to determine who was the top mascot in college sports. Cosmo and his legion of BYU fans defeated Western Kentucky’s Big Red despite accusations of voter fraud.
It’s been a long time since BYU last played on Halloween. You have to go back to 1992 when BYU upset the nationally-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions in Provo to find the Cougars playing on the spooky holiday.
No official announcement has been made by BYU on how many fans will be allowed to attend the game against Western Kentucky. BYU is allowing 6,000 fans to attend the Texas State game on October 24th and they will “consider increasing attendance at future home games as the season progresses based on the new state COVID-19 Transmission Index Metrix and the guidance of state and county public health officials.”
