BYU WR Neil Pau’u Comes Up With Clutch TD On Fourth Down

PROVO, Utah – BYU wide receiver Neil Pau’u made an impressive touchdown catch in the back of the end zone on fourth and goal.

It was a four-yard catch that was thrown by Zach Wilson to put BYU up on UTSA, 7-3 with under 14 minutes left in the first half.

Pau’u made his first touchdown catch of the season. It was his fourth TD grab of his career.

BYU went scoreless in the first quarter which snapped a streak of 16 consecutive quarters that the Cougars scored. To that point, Wilson was 12-14 passing for 154 yards and one touchdown. Pau’u hauled in his third catch for 24 yards and a score.

The Cougars could get into the end zone on their first drive of the game even though BYU was in the red zone in three plays. At the UTSA 10-yard line, wide receiver Neil Pau’u fumbled the ball and the Roadrunners recovered.

Zach Wilson went 3-3 for 62 yards on the first possession of the game.

Troy Warner hauled in his second interception in as many games when UTSA quarterback Frank Harris threw the ball deep but was picked off. That started BYU’s second drive at their own 9-yard line. Tyler Allgeier rushed for 9 yards to start the possession. Wilson then threw a 19-yard pass to Isaac Rex followed by a 19-yard completion to Carter Wheat.

On 4th and 6 at the UTSA 40-yard line, BYU went for it but the pass to Gunner Romney was broken up by a Roadrunner defender.
