PROVO, Utah – What could BYU football and Clemson have in common? Not much, honestly. But they both can claim to be the only teams to claim this interesting stat heading into week six action of the 2020 college football season.
Both No. 15 BYU and the No. 1 ranked Clemson Tigers are the only two teams in the Top 10 for scoring offense and scoring defense through the first five weeks of the season.

BYU ranks higher than Clemson in both national statistics. The Cougars are No. 2 in scoring offense averaging 49.3 points and allowing only eight points per game, good for No. 4 nationally. Clemson is No. 9 in scoring offense at 49.3 points, and the Tigers nasty defense has allowed 12 points through three games.
According to Sagarin ratings, the two teams’ schedules have been comparable to this point. BYU has played the 47th toughest schedule through three weeks and Clemson’s strength of schedule is at 50. That will change this week as the Tigers play host to Miami, a Top-10 ranked team in the national polls.
BYU hosts UTSA from Conference-USA this Saturday in Provo.
The Cougars are looking for their first 4-0 start since 2014. Clemson, on the other hand, has only lost two regular-season games since 2015.
