SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The drought is over as No. 11 Bonneville is Region 5 Champions with a 42-14 over Box Elder on the Game Night Live Game of the Week.

Bonneville won their first region title in 18 years. The Lakers had a big performance from quarterback Kamen Best, who threw three touchdown passes and ran in another score. He found Reiss Graybeal, Jordan Jacquez and Kord Shaw. Shaw also scored a TD on the ground.

Box Elder was led by Parker Buchanan with two total touchdowns, one passing and one rushing. He threw his lone TD pass to Braylon Majors.

Bonneville Pours In Four TD’s In First Half

After Box Elder was forced to punt on their first drive, the Lakers scored their first touchdown of the game when Kamen Best ran it in on a broken play. The snap went over his head but was able to get a hand up to keep the play alive. Box Elder blocked the extra point, putting Bonneville up 6-0 with 7:03 remaining in the first half.

The Bees had to punt again and Bonneville answered quickly with another touchdown. This time, Best threw a 25-yard TD to Reiss Graybeal. They picked up the two point conversion and took a 14-0 lead midway through the first.

Parker Buchanan put the Bees on the scoreboard with a beautiful pass to the end zone to Braylon Majors. They trimmed Bonneville’s deficit to 14-7 with 20 seconds left in the opening quarter.

The Lakers created separation when Kord Shaw ran in a touchdown on a jet sweep. After the PAT, Bonneville took a 21-7 lead with 10:30 left in the first half. Box Elder’s chances diminished when Graybeal found the end zone for the second time in the first half. The Lakers had a 28-7 lead with 5:52 remaining in the second quarter.

Bonneville Coasts To Region Title

On their first drive of the third quarter, Best ran out of the pocket and threw a TD on the run to Kord Shaw. The Lakers’ lead was 35-7 with 9 minutes remaining in the third quarter.

It took over one quarter for the Bees to get their first touchdown of the second half. Buchanan ran it in from the goal line. The Bonneville lead was trimmed to 35-14 with 9:41 remaining in the game.

Bonneville put the game away when Best threw a pass to the flat to Jordan Jacquez. That gave the Lakers a 42-14 lead with 6:16 left in the game.

The Lakers finish the regular season with an 8-1 record. Their only loss was to Sky View in Week 2 of the season. They will await their seeding in the 5A state playoffs.

Box Elder ended their regular season with a 4-5 record. They will also await their seeding in the 5A state playoffs.

The Game Night Live Game of the Week for the regular season finale will feature No. 14 Lehi traveling to No. 9 Orem on Wednesday, October 14 at 7 p.m. on KSLSports.com and the KSL TV app.
