Former Ute, Current Jet Promoted To Active Roster Ahead of Thursday Night Football

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former University of Utah defensive back and current New York Jet Javelin Guidry has been promoted to the active roster after originally making the team as a member of the practice squad.
Guidry left the University of Utah as a junior and declared for the 2020 NFL Draft but went undrafted. He signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent and was tasked with competing for a roster spot the hard way.
We’ve activated WR Jeff Smith off IR, signed DB Javelin Guidry to the active roster and elevated WR Lawrence Cager and DB Lamar Jackson from the practice squad.
Additionally, we’ve released QB Mike White and CB Nate Hairston.

Fortune favors the brave and for Guidry the risk he took by leaving the college game early paid dividends when the Jets announced that they had signed Guidry to the practice squad. A job that pays roughly $8,400 a week.
As the NFL enters week four and the Jets prepare for a Thursday Night showdown against the Denver Broncos, Guidry received the news that he had been waiting for. He has been promoted.
Guidry is now on the active 53 man roster and is eligible to play NFL snaps for the Jets, starting this evening against the Broncos.
During Guidry’s career at Utah, he tallied 82 tackles, 3 interceptions and 19 pass deflections. Earlier this year, Guidry ran the second-fastest 40-yard at the NFL Combine clocking in at 4.29 seconds.
The Jets and Broncos will kick off week 4 tonight with kick-off scheduled for 6:20 p.m. and can be viewed on the NFL Network.
