Social Media Took Off During BYU’s Blowout Win Against Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland – BYU dominating Navy by a score of 55-3 was not the outcome the college football was expecting to see when this game was announced a month ago. But still, with a football-starved country tuning in to the first game that resembled a pair of programs that people have actually heard of, media members and former players tuned in to BYU’s big win.
When the nation tunes in to a sporting event, you’re going to see a lot of opinions flowing on social media. With how well BYU played on Monday, it was hard for anyone to say anything bad about the Cougars’ impressive performance to open the 2020 season.
Social Media reacts to BYU cruising to win over Navy
Notre Dame complaining about someone not being in a conference might be pure art in Twitter form. *Chefs kiss*
The near future: one loss Notre Dame argues undefeated BYU doesn't deserve a playoff slot because they didn't play a conference title game

BYU stood strong amidst the Pandemic and made it clear they were going to play. The reward was the most complete win in the Kalani Sitake era.
By the way, while I’m betting against them tonight, how about BYU refusing to quit — even when all their opponents canceled and the rest of the west coast cowered in fear — and still finding a way to play this year? Absolutely love it. Well done.

Former four-year starter Tejan Koroma loved what he saw from the big guys up front along the offensive line.
That BYU O-LINE is BIG and STRONG! Have to give credit to the strength staff, Coach Nu’u, Coach Justin, and Coach AJ for getting those guys ready! 💪🏿👊🏿

Hard to argue with BYU’s all-time leading wide receiver Cody Hoffman making this take now. Harvey Unga had Lopini Katoa and Tyler Allgeier looking good on Monday night.
i’m glad what i said years ago finally happened. BYUs RBs looked real good out there tonight. kudos to my guy @unga45 for getting them right! https://t.co/57FxIZ3Ros

Think about this, BYU was a member of the Mountain West Conference and they had Max Hall at quarterback. It’s been a while since the Cougars crushed a team as they did on Monday.
55-3 is BYU’s largest margin of victory against an FBS team since 2009, when it shut out Wyoming 52-0.
Navy’s worst loss since losing 70-7 to Georgia Tech in 2001

After years of average offenses, BYU fans will take this.
BYU has decided they are going to go on and score 12 games worth of points despite playing an 8-game schedule.

Former LSU defensive lineman and now Los Angeles Charger Breiden Fehoko has family ties to BYU. His brother, Sam, was an analyst for BYU in 2017. Recently wore a BYU shirt in a Hard Knocks episode on HBO.
Coach Grimes got that BYU offense rolling! 🔥

Grimes earned a lot of praise for the way the BYU offense performed against Navy.

BYU vs. Army for the National Championship … bring it on!
Perhaps this week it should have been Army vs. BYU & Middle Tennessee vs. Navy?
— Brett McMurphy (@Brett_McMurphy) September 8, 2020
#BYU–#Army on 9-19 may be for de facto natty.

“The Viking” Chandon Herring getting some NFL Draft love. Herring started at right tackle.
Lone player on my 2021 early draft list in tonight's game is BYU offensive tackle Chandon Herring.
Day 2 potential is strong.

"I don't think anyone is going to want to schedule them after tonight … this is a good football team." — @KirkHerbstreit on BYU
— Greg Welch (@ArtDirectorBYU) September 8, 2020
I’ll always remember tonight, but not bc of the outcome of the game. I felt gratitude for the game even being played and just to be there. So surreal w/o fans. Hard to describe how large their absence felt. And wearing a mask on tv is def not ideal but what is these days?!
