BYU, Navy Sing Fight Song Together After Cougars Win

PROVO, Utah – Following a 55-3 win over the Navy Midshipmen, the BYU Cougars football team joined the Midshipmen in singing their fight song “Anchors Aweigh.”

It was a nice moment for both teams following a lopsided football game. Respect runs deep between these two teams and it was a cool moment to see both teams together on Labor Day night.

This was the worst home defeat during the 13 years that head coach Ken Niumatolo has been at the helm for the Midshipmen.

The 52-point margin of victory was the largest of the Kalani Sitake era. The Cougars controlled this game from the start scoring 14 first quarter points en route to a 31-0 halftime lead.

BYU had 28 first downs, four times as many as Navy. It was an offensive masterpiece called by coordinator Jeff Grimes.

The Cougars out-gained the Midshipmen by 431 yards and nearly gained 600 yards of offense. They finished with 580 yards gained.

Time of possession also favored BYU. They held the football 37 minutes and 20 seconds.

BYU will have a bye week before traveling back to the East Coast to visit the Army Black Knights on September 19th.
