Utah Football Pledges To Support Players, ‘Empower Their Voices To Make A Difference’

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Members of the Utah football team issued a message on social media that provided support to their student-athletes, allowing them to empower their voices.

The message was tweeted out on Friday night with four Utah football players each wearing a shirt with a one-word message along with #EndRacism.

Cornerback Clark Phillips III had “Kindness” on his shirt. Offensive lineman Nick Ford sported a shirt with the word “Respect.” Running back T.J. Green wore a shirt with “Equality” on it and quarterback Jake Bentley wore a shirt with the message “Humanity” on it.

The tweet read “We stand in support of our student-athletes and will empower their voices to make a difference. #EndRacism.”

The Pac-12 has been active in creating change with the #WeAreUnited movement that is led by players around the conference. That movement was also started in the Mountain West Conference, the Big Ten Conference and other conferences around the country.

Ford quote tweeted the Utah Football account with “More than just a number. More than just a color. Always gonna stand side by side with my brothers.”
