Amanda Barcello, Sister Of BYU Hoops Star, Commits To Cougars

PROVO, Utah – Jeff Judkins is building one of the top teams in the WCC with the BYU women’s basketball program. All of the success can be pointed to the work BYU is putting in on the recruiting trail.

BYU women’s hoops received a commitment from Amanda Barcello out of Chandler, Arizona’s Seton Catholic Preparatory High School. The 5-foot-11 guard is the younger sister to BYU men’s basketball star Alex Barcello who transferred to the Cougars from the University of Arizona last season.

Amanda Barcello comes from a talented basketball family

Barcello comes from an accomplished basketball family. Older sisters Julia Barcello graduated from Colgate in 2018 and Sarah Barcello is currently preparing for her junior season as a guard at Marist College.

Amanda is part of BYU’s 2021 recruiting class and will be able to sign with the Cougars this November during the early signing period. Along with BYU, Barcello received offers from Seattle and Utah Valley.

During her junior year at Seton Catholic, Barcello averaged 9.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.1 steals, and 2.5 assists per game. She also led SCP with 1.7 blocks each night helping lead her team to a 4A State Championship.

BYU Women’s Basketball now has three commits for the class of 2021 with the addition of Amanda Barcello. Logan’s Amber Kartchner and low past star Emma Calvert from Fremont High are the other two commits in the Cougars class.
