Former Utah Utes Cornerback Jaylon Johnson Officially Signs Contract With Chicago Bears

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah Utes and current Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson signed his first pro contract and officially became a member of the Windy City football team.
Johnson confirmed his signing with a social media post on Tuesday, July 21.

According to Spotrac, Johnson’s contract is a 4-year deal worth $6,468,770, including a $2,264,560 signing bonus and $3,168,595 is guaranteed.

The Bears selected Johnson with the 50th overall pick during the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
He was the seventh cornerback to be taken in April’s Draft.

Jaylon Johnson’s Utah Football Career
The Fresno, California native is one of the top recruits that the Utes have signed.
As a freshman in 2017, Johnson started in two of the 12 games that he played in. He finished with 25 tackles, 7 passes defended, and 6 pass breakups.

In 2018, Johnson started in all 14 of Utah’s games and was named first-team All-Pac-12. He finished the season with 4 interceptions, 41 tackles, and 4 pass breakups.
Last season, Johnson was once again named first-team All-Pac-12 as well as an All-American. He started in 13 games before sitting out the Alamo Bowl to prepare for the NFL Draft. During his junior season, Johnson had 11 pass breakups, 13 passes defended, 2 interceptions, and 36 tackles.
