How Former Utah QB Tyler Huntley Will Fit In With Baltimore Ravens

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah quarterback Tyler Huntley has a legitimate opportunity to be the backup quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens.

Huntley signed with the Ravens as a priority free agent.
According to Ourlads.com and ESPN.com, Huntley is currently listed as the fourth string quarterback behind Lamar Jackson, Robert Griffin III and Trace McSorley.
He will wear No. 2 for the Ravens.

Quarterbacks On Roster
Lamar Jackson recently won the NFL MVP award and it looks to be the face of the franchise so he won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. Jackson has two years remaining on his rookie contract.
Robert Griffin III is in the final year of his two-year contract with Baltimore. Trace McSorley has three years left on his rookie contract after being taken in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
The Ravens did not pick a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Contract Details
According to Spotrac.com, Huntley agreed to a three-year deal worth $2,290,000. His signing bonus is $5,000. His base salary this season will be $610,000 and will use $611,666 of the Ravens’ cap this season.
Huntley agreed to a contract with the Ravens about one week after the NFL Draft.
Prediction
It doesn’t seem promising for Huntley right now since he is the fourth quarterback on the Ravens depth chart. But, I believe that Huntley is better than both Robert Griffin III and Trace McSorley. RGIII is nearing the end of his career and I would be surprised if the Ravens re-sign him.
McSorley is a good quarterback but Huntley showed during the 2019 season that he can be the total package quarterback like Lamar Jackson. The only thing that the other two QB’s behind Jackson have on Huntley is NFL experience. Huntley just needs to show what he can do and I believe he will be the No. 2 quarterback in Baltimore entering the 2021 season.
