Donovan Mitchell Wants Georgetown Transfer Mac McClung To Play For BYU

PROVO, Utah – One of the nation’s top transfers in Georgetown’s Mac McClung has NBA players now recruiting him, including Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell.
BYU is one of the seven schools in McClung’s Top 7 as he continues to weigh his options for the next school he will attend. Along with BYU, McClung’s top 7 includes Arkansas, Auburn, Memphis, Texas Tech, USC, and Wake Forest.

After McClung dropped his top 7, Memphis Grizzlies rookie Ja Morant quote tweeted McClung with “M” emoji’s. Morant, the likely Rookie of the Year in the NBA this season, was showing support for the Memphis Tigers.

Former BYU star and NBA player Kyle Collinsworth tweeted at Donovan Mitchell after seeing Morant’s tweet saying, “Yo @spidamitchell let’s get @McclungMac to the great state of Utah playing for @BYUbasketball !!”

Shortly after Mitchell sent that tweet, McClung hit retweet for his nearly 50,000 followers to see.
Mitchell’s teammate Joe Ingles replied to Mitchell, “U must be bored Don.”

McClung, a three-star recruit out of a small high school in Virginia, rose to internet stardom for his high-flying dunks and endless range from beyond the arc. He built an Instagram following that is now over 740,000 followers. After decommitting from a pledge to play for Rutgers, McClung signed with Patrick Ewing and the Georgetown Hoyas.
In two seasons with the Hoyas, McClung started in 49 games and was Georgetown’s leading scorer during his sophomore campaign averaging 15.7 points. McClung missed the last seven games of the season for the Hoyas due to a foot injury and Georgetown was 0-7 in those games.
With McClung on the court, Georgetown’s offensive rating was 117.7, without him it was 102.7 per Pivot Analysis data.
