Joe Ingles Favorite Jazz Memory, Teammate, And Dream Car

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Joe and wife Renae Ingles made an impromptu list of favorites on the latest “Ingles Insight” podcast. The Utah Jazz guard and wife listed their favorite Jazz memory during his time in Utah. Additionally, Joe listed his favorite teammates throughout his basketball career. As a bonus, the family shared the story of how Renae surprised the guard with Ingles favorite car.
The podcast allows the Australian couple to open their lives up to Jazz fans. Over the last two episodes, the pair has been answering questions in a mailbag format. With the questions submitted by fans, the duo can reveal information that may not come up during regular media availability.

Ingles Favorite Jazz Memory
Joe shared several on-court memories among his favorite in a Jazz uniform. One memory may be easily overlooked by Jazz fans.
“Resigning when I knew that [the Jazz] wanted me for more than a couple of years,” Ingles said. “So I knew I was going to find a home”
Ingles first signed with the Jazz in the summer of 2014. The guard was waived by the Los Angeles Clippers and claimed by the Jazz two days later. In 2015, Ingles signed a two year, $4.5 million deal with the team. It wasn’t until 2017 that Ingles got a long term commitment from the Jazz. The guard signed a 4 year, $52 million deal that July. Since then, Ingles and the Jazz have extended the deal for one additional season, keeping the guard in Utah through 2022.
Ingles Favorite Playoff Victories
Separately, it’s no coincidence many of Ingles favorites are shared by Jazz fans.
“All of the playoff series that I have been a part of,” Ingles mentioned. “Iāll never forget that Clippers series and obviously OKC.”
The two series are the only playoff victories for Ingles in a Jazz uniform. In, 2017, the Jazz took down the Clippers in seven games. Ingles averaged a modest 6.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and four assists. However, his defense against guard JJ Redick was key to the Jazz victory.

In 2018, the Jazz defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in six games. The series was arguably Ingles best stretch of play in Jazz uniform. The guard averaged 14.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists during the series. Additionally, he shot a blistering 46 percent from the three-point line on 7.5 attempts per game. All the while, he was tasked with defending future hall of fame wing Paul George. Ingles repeatedly brought out the emotional side of George in the series, tilting the games in the Jazz favor.
Favorite Shared Memory
More than any playoff victory, both Joe and Renae mentioned the Jazz Autism Awareness night in March of 2019. The even came shorty after son Jacob was diagnosed with autism.
“The autism awareness match,” Renae singled out. “It was so special to us. We had only recently had the diagnoses so that whole game was an experience. I spent half the night crying, but it was such a nice night and it just felt like everyone game together. And, [Joe] had a ripper of a game.”

The Jazz guard nearly recorded his first triple-double in a Jazz uniform. Ingles finished with 11 points, 9 rebounds, and a career-high 14 assists. The Jazz beat the Los Angeles Lakers 115-100.Ā
“The autism game was my favorite individual game I’ve ever played in anything, professionally, in Europe, anywhere,” Ingles remembered. “I will never forget that game. I was hoping to play again this year. We had some really cool shoes done up by an amazing artist so we will use them or next year. But the autism game for sure.”
Ingles Favorite Teammates
Ingles is one of the more well-traveled players in the NBA. The guard began playing professional basketball at 17-years-old in Australia. Three years later, Ingles moved to Europe where he played with three teams before leaving for the NBA.
Along the way, Ingles teamed with former Jazz point guard Ricky Rubio twice.
“I played with him in Barcelona when were both really young,” Ingles said. “Then, to play with someone again however many years later we were both older–I had the kids he was in a relationship, we both settled down.”Ā

The Jazz moved on from Rubio in the summer of 2019 after trading for guard Mike Conley. However, that doesn’t mean Ingles was left friendless.
“Georges Niang,” Ingles singled out, “My plane seat buddy who was on the podcast.”
Ingles has taken Niang under his wing as the Iowa State grad has navigated the NBA lifestyle. A fellow sharp-shooter, Niang’s less that prolific athleticism most closely mirrors Ingles game within the roster.
To date, Niang is the only fellow basketball player to appear on the Ingleses podcast.
Ingles Dream Car
One common question for the Ingleses is what cars they drive. Though Joe isn’t outwardly flashy as a dresser, he has a fondness of automobiles.
The guard currently drives a Ford Raptor while he’s in the states. However, he has a sportier option for the summer months. Renae gifted Joe a Porsche Panamera last Christmas. During the colder temperatures, Ingles said the car has remained in the family’s garage.
Truthfully, Ingles said his favorite car is back home in Australia. Like the Panamera, Renae surprised Joe with his dream car.
“She got me a ’65 mustang which is my baby in Australia,” Ingles remembered.
After an eight hour drive earlier in the day, the Jazz guard resisted driving an additional 30 minutes to the team’s couples new home. However, when they arrived, INgles was treated with a surprise.
“She was like, oh, look in the garage,” Ingles recalled. “It was amazing.”
