SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Larry H. Miller group of companies, including the Utah Jazz will hold a massive good drive beginning April 30 and running through May 6 in an effort to support the Utah Food Bank amid the coronavirus pandemic. The “Drive and Assist” campaign hopes to address growing food insecurity conditions as the financial impact of the virus threatens members of the state of Utah.

The drive will be held at Larry H. Miller car dealerships, movie theatres, and sports facilities to make the public donations more easily accessible, donations can be made between 2-6 each day, except Sunday, May 3, at drive-thru locations.

For those looking to donate food to the Vivint Smart Home Arena, the Park Place lot adjacent to the building will be used for donation drop-offs, while those looking to donate at Smith’s Ballpark will be asked to drive-thru the North Parking Lot.

Those who participate in donations will receive a “thank you for the assist” item from the company.

  • Each LHM automobile dealership will offer a $10 coupon for a lube, oil and filter change at any of its Utah locations.
  • Each Megaplex Theatre will provide a large tub of freshly popped Megaplex popcorn, delivered via its Curbside Popcorn Service.
  • Smith’s Ballpark will provide a voucher for two tickets to a Salt Lake Bees baseball game.
  • Vivint Smart Home Arena will provide a $10 online credit to the Utah Jazz Team Store.

A minimum of eight cans of food or equivalent value is required to receive one thank you item per vehicle.

Donations must be non-perishable food items with an emphasis on canned goods. Items like produce, meat, frozen food, bread, and items that need to be refrigerated will not be accepted. The most needed food items include peanut butter, mac & cheese, canned meats (tuna, chicken or beef), chili, SpaghettiOs, canned fruits, and other boxed meals.

Several members of the Jazz have been actively charitable amid the pandemic. Center Rudy Gobert made a $500,000 donation to families in Utah, Oklahoma, and his native France who have been affected by the virus.

Guard Joe Ingles partnered with KeyBank to donate $10,000 to Kulture City, a non-profit organization that aims to make everyday environments more inclusive to people with autism and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Yesterday, Jazz point guard Mike Conley announced he would be taking part in the All-In Challenge, offering unique sporting experiences to fans to raise money for families impacted by the coronavirus.

Donovan Mitchell is also a participant in the challenge, with his auction set to expire this weekend. Mitchell is offering a game-worn jersey and shoes, courtside tickets to a Jazz game, early access to his new signature shoe, and a meet and greet to the highest bidder. The highest bid currently sits at $15,000.
