PROVO, Utah – The NFL Draft fires up this week and college football players across the country are receiving interest from teams including BYU’s Dayan Ghanwoloku.
Ghanwoloku is projected as a High-Priority Free Agent after the draft concludes this Saturday or at the earliest a 6th or 7th-round selection. But it’s not stopping teams from having what Ghanwoloku’s agent calls an “avalanche of interest” in the former BYU star.

Evan Brennan, Ghanwoloku’s agent from United Athlete Sports, hopped on KSL Sports’ Cougar Tracks Podcast to discuss Dayan’s potential NFL opportunities. One of those teams that have expressed interest in Dayan Ghanwoloku is the New England Patriots according to Brennan.
“Dayan, in particular, is heating up. We’re talking several defensive back coaches are face timing him daily. The Patriots reached out to him yesterday via face time. He is getting an avalanche of interest,” said Brennan.
With the NFL Draft process and the draft itself becoming virtual, teams are taking an old school approach to player evaluations by relying on film in college. Luckily for Ghanwoloku, he had an entire career at BYU where he produced.
In his four year career at BYU, he started in 43 of 48 games played and made starts at both cornerback and safety. Ghanwoloku ended up with 207 tackles, seven interceptions, and seven fumble recoveries.
The seven fumble recoveries are the most by a BYU player in the last 20 years.
Along with excelling on defense, Ghanwoloku also played on special teams during his career in Provo. That has many NFL teams intrigued by the possibility of bringing Ghanwoloku into a franchise.
Three years ago, the Patriots gave former BYU defensive end/linebacker Harvey Langi the most guaranteed money ever for an undrafted free agent prospect. So the Patriots have shown that if they like someone, they’ll go out and get that guy.
The NFL Draft begins this Thursday and concludes on Saturday. For all the details on how to watch the Draft check here.
