SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Major League Soccer has released a statement regarding the potential timeframe in which the league will return to play. Unfortunately, for soccer fans living in North America, the news is not what you were hoping to hear.
After originally planning on returning to play in mid-may, the league has admitted that now that seems “extremely unlikely based on the guidance of federal and local public health authorities.”

The statement continues to read “we continue to learn more every day from the medical experts, and we expect to have additional details in the coming weeks regarding when we can return to play.”
Remarkably, despite the significant postponement to the 2020 season, MLS still believes that they have “enough dates to play the entire season.”
Major League Soccer, along with many other global sporting organizations have been hesitant to put a date in place for a return of play as the situation regarding the current crisis is still very foreign.
Real Salt Lake drew their first two games of the season before proceedings were shut down. A 0-0 tie on the road against Orlando City and a 1-1 nailbiter at home against the New York Red Bulls.
