Reports: Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett Inducted Into Basketball Hall Of Fame

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Basketball legends Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, and Kevin Garnett will be announced as the latest inductions into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, according to Stadium’s Shams Charania.

The Hall of Fame Class of 2020 is set to be announced on Saturday, April 4.

All three players were eligible for the Hall of Fame induction for the first time this year.

Kobe Bryant

The late, great Kobe Bryant played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1996-2016. He was originally selected straight out of high school by the Charlotte Hornets with the 13th overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. The Hornets traded Bryant to the Lakers.

Bryant’s Hall of Fame career featured five NBA championships, two NBA Finals MVP awards, one regular-season MVP award, and 18 NBA All-Star selections. He was also a two-time Olympic gold medalist.

The shooting guard finished his illustrious career with 33,643 points.

Both his No. 8 and No. 24 jersey numbers were retired by the Lakers.

Bryant passed away in a tragic helicopter crash in January 2020.

Tim Duncan

Hall of Fame-bound center Tim Duncan played his entire career with the San Antonio Spurs. He played in San Antonio from 1997-2016. Duncan was selected by the Spurs out of Wake Forest with the number one overall pick in the 1997 NBA Draft.

Duncan finished his NBA career as a five-time NBA champion, three-time NBA Finals MVP award winner, two-time regular season NBA MVP, and 15-time NBA All-Star. He won a bronze medal as a member of Team USA during the 2004 Olympic Games.

The center finished his career with 26,496 points.

His No 21. jersey was retired by the Spurs.

Duncan is now an assistant coach for San Antonio.

Kevin Garnett

Kevin Garnett played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, and Brooklyn Nets during his NBA career that spanned from 1995-2016. The center was selected straight out of high school by the Timberwolves with the No. 5 pick in the 1995 NBA Draft.

Garnett played for the Wolves from 1995-2007. Minnesota traded the All-Star center to Boston, where Garnett went on to win an NBA title in 2008. He played for the Celtics until 2013, when he was traded to the Nets. Garnett played in Brooklyn until 2015. He was traded to Minnesota and finished his career in 2016 with the franchise that drafted him.

He finished his career as a one-time regular season NBA MVP and 15-time NBA All-Star. Garnett scored 26,071 over his time in the NBA.

His jersey is scheduled to be retired by the Celtics.

Since his retirement, Garnett has been a broadcast analyst, NBA team consultant, and actor.
