Runnin’ Utes Center Matt Van Komen Enters College Basketball Transfer Portal

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah men’s basketball center Matt Van Komen entered the transfer portal according to KSLSports.com’s Steve Bartle.
Bartle reported Van Komen’s intentions to transfer from the University of Utah on Saturday, March 21.
The Utah big man recently completed his freshman campaign with the Runnin’ Utes.

Van Komen saw action in nine games this season. He played a total of 43 minutes and was on the court during four Pac-12 Conference games.
During his time with Utah, the Utes posted a 16-15 record including 7-11 in conference play.
The center averaged 1.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and just under a block per contest.

He committed to Utah after playing his high school ball at Pleasant Grove.
Van Komen was considered a high three-star prospect in the 2019 class, according to 247Sports.
Van Komen is the only Utah player to enter the transfer portal this offseason.
