SALT LAKE CITY – In the pursuit to “flatten the curve” against the novel Coronavirus outbreak, people around the world are staying home. But while we are all adjusting to life at home, and with no sports on television, what do we do to entertain ourselves?
Former BYU basketball star Jimmer Fredette has a movie recommendation for you to watch. Jimmer’s current professional team, Panathinaikos in Greece, is promoting a “#StayHome” movement to get fans of the club to avoid going out during this unique time.
To incentivize people to stay home during these difficult times, and while the EuroLeague is suspended, they are having their athletes give entertainment suggestions. Former BYU star Fredette recommends people staying at home should watch the movie, “Rocky”.

There’s so much Rocky Balboa in Jimmer Fredette, so it makes a lot of sense. An undersized guy on the east coast who rose to unlikely stardom knocking out Clubber Lang’s in his path. They’ve got that eye of the tiger.
Jimmer has been competing in his first season with Panathinaikos, which is part of the EuroLeague, often considered the second-best basketball league behind the NBA. In 27 games played in the EuroLeague this year, Fredette is averaging 12.9 points on 47.4 percent shooting.
Fredette turned down offers from the CBA (Chinese Basketball Association) last summer to team up with Panathinaikos and their owner who had dreamed of signing Fredette for years. This is Fredette’s ninth year in professional basketball since graduating from BYU and it’s his fourth year playing overseas. This is year one of a two-year contract between Fredette and Panathinaikos, where the former BYU star is pulling down $3.5 million.
