PROVO, Utah – There’s a new sports power couple, this one is a BYU Basketball engagement. BYU men’s basketball forward Connor Harding and women’s basketball guard Paisley Johnson will tie the knot soon.

The two basketball players down at BYU got engaged on Tuesday night according to Johnson’s personal social media.

The proposal took place at Temple Square’s The Roof in downtown Salt Lake City. According to the photos, Harding’s nephews were there holding a sign for Johnson that read, “Will you marry our uncle?”

Harding and Johnson began dating a year ago and are two athletes competing at a high level for their respective teams. Johnson earlier this week was named to the All-WCC First Team for the first time in her career and recently surpassed the 1,000-point mark for scoring.

Harding has established himself as one of the top players off BYU’s bench and two weeks ago dished out the assist to Yoeli Childs against Gonzaga that led to the exclamation point dunk to give the Cougars upset victory over the Zags.

“She’s helped me through a lot of what’s happened on this court,” said Harding on BYU Basketball with Mark Pope (Wednesday, 9 pm on KSL NewsRadio). “She’s going through it, she’s been through a lot of different experiences and she’s just been there by my side.

“Because you have a lot of ups and downs in basketball where you’re like, what am I doing, why am I here? And she’s just there to tell me like, hey, I’ve been through this and I just wanna tell you a little secret that I did. Don’t be afraid to open up, don’t be afraid to voice your opinion or to be yourself. She’ll bring back things that I knew about myself, but at the moment, it was not in my head. She just helps me keep my identity and I think that’s the most important thing anyone can do.”

Both Harding and Johnson now prepare to help their teams pursue WCC Tournament titles in Las Vegas. The Women’s team led by Johnson begins on Saturday in the Quarterfinals with Harding and the men starting their run on Monday in the semifinals.
