Yoeli Childs Wins Second Consecutive WCC Player Of The Week Honor

PROVO, Utah – BYU forward Yoeli Childs took home the final West Coast Conference Player of the Week honor of the season. Now, will it lead to a WCC Player of the Year nod tomorrow?
This is Childs’s second straight week being named WCC Player of the Week and the fifth time in his storied career. In BYU’s lone game this past week against Pepperdine, Childs was unstoppable. The senior star and Karl Malone Award candidate had 38 points and 14 rebounds as BYU took down the Waves by a score of 81-64.

With the win, BYU closed out the month of February with a perfect 8-0 record and Childs led the Cougars every step of the way.
The 38 points against Pepperdine were a career-high for Childs who became only the second player in West Coast Conference history to eclipse 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. Childs joins former San Francisco and NBA star Bill Cartwright as the only players in the WCC to hit those career milestones.
With the regular season now over, Childs and the No. 15 ranked BYU Cougars will wait until Monday, March 9th for their next game in WCC Tournament in Las Vegas.
