Harding, John Lead Weber State Past Southern Utah To Complete Season Sweep

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State Wildcats completed the two-game sweep over conference and in-state rival Southern Utah with an 82-71 win at the Dee Events Center.
Cody John led all scorers with 28 points and 8 rebounds on 6-11 shooting from the field and 4-6 from the three-point line. Jerrick Harding added 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The backcourt duo combined for 50 of Weber State’s 82 points.
The Wildcats were able to get a double digit lead at the halftime break by outscoring the Thunderbirds 39-27 in the opening half.
Michal Kozak chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Weber State shot 48 percent from the field. 7-19 from beyond the arc and a great showing at the foul line, knocking down 23 of their 25 attempts at the charity stripe.

Southern Utah couldn’t complete the comeback as Weber State answered with any run that the Thunderbirds had in the second half. SUU outscored the Wildcats 44-43 in the final half of play.
John Knight III led the Thunderbirds with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals on 8-14 field goal shooting and 8-11 at the foul line. Dre Marin chipped in 12 points and Andre Adams added 10 points.
Southern Utah shot 39 percent from the floor, 33 percent from the perimeter and 17-23 at the foul line. The rebounding battle, assist totals and turnovers were very close between the two teams with no big separation.

Weber State snapped their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 11-16 overall and 7-9 in Big Sky Conference play. They will host the Portland State Vikings on Saturday, February 29. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on Pluto TV channel 535.
Southern Utah dropped their fourth consecutive game and put their record to 14-13 overall and 7-9 in conference play. The Thunderbirds will return to Cedar City and host Eastern Washington on Thursday, February 27. The game will begin at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on Pluto TV channel 536.
