John, Harding’s Combined 53 Points Not Enough As Wildcats Fall At Portland State

PORTLAND, Ore. – Weber State guards Cody John and Jerrick Harding scored a combined 53 points in the Wildcats’ loss to the Portland State Vikings.
The Wildcats played at Portland State at Viking Pavilion on Monday, January 20.
John led Weber State with 29 points while Harding poured in 24 points against the Vikings.
29 points is a new career-high for John. He shot 12-17 on field goals and 3-5 from downtown.

Harding shot 10-21 on the night while going 2-8 from three.
Unfortunately for the Wildcats, those two were the bulk of Weber State’s offense in the road game.
The Wildcats’ second unit only had 10 points against Portland State and non-John or Harding players combined for 23 points in the 16 point loss.
Michal Kozak was Weber State’s next leading scorer with 7 points.
Weber State shot 50 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from downtown.
Portland Problems
Despite shooting the ball well, the Wildcats’ defense was unable to stop the Vikings.
Portland State’s Alonzo Walker led the Vikings with 23 points on 11-17 shooting. He was one of five Viking players to score in double figures.

The Vikings shot 48.7 percent overall and a great 45.5 percent from behind the arc.
Portland State outrebounded Weber State by 19 boards and the Vikings dished out 7 more assists.
The Vikings improved to 10-10 on the season and 4-4 in Big Sky Conference play with the victory.
Weber State fell to 6-12 overall and 2-5 in conference games.

The Wildcats have lost six of their last eight games.
Weber State returns to Ogden to host Montana State on Thursday, January 23 at 7 p.m. (MDT).
