Six Local Players Earn Berth In Super Bowl LIV

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The hunt for the Lombardi trophy is down to two teams, who will square off in Super Bowl LIV in Miami, Florida on Sunday, February 2.
Two former Utah football players will join their teams in the Super Bowl, along with two former BYU players and one former Utah State Aggie. Former Layton High School star Marcus Kemp is on the Kansas City Chiefs roster but will not play after suffering a season-ending injury.
Here is how all of the players with ties to the state of Utah fared during the AFC and NFC Championship games.
Former Utes
Mitch Wishnowsky, P, San Francisco 49ers (13-3)
The 49ers didn’t punt the ball much as Wishnowsky had just two punts for 77 yards for an average of 38.5 yards per punt. His longest punt was 41 yards and one of them landed inside the 20-yard line. San Francisco knocked off the Green Bay Packers 37-20 in the NFC Championship game.

Jackson Barton, OL, Kansas City Chiefs (12-4)
Barton was inactive for the Chiefs in their 35-24 win over the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship game.

Former Cougars
Jamaal Williams, RB, Green Bay Packers (13-3)
The Packers offense struggled against the 49ers. Williams ran the ball three times for six yards and caught two passes for one yard. Green Bay lost to San Francisco 37-20 in the NFC Championship game.
Next Up: Season is over. Williams has one more season remaining on his current contract.
Daniel Sorensen, S, Kansas City Chiefs (12-4)
Sorensen racked up 9 tackles, including one tackle for loss and one pass deflection in the Chiefs’ 35-24 win over the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship game.

Fred Warner, LB, San Francisco 49ers (13-3)
Warner finished with six tackles, including 5 solo tackles and a pass deflection in the 49ers’ 37-20 win over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game.

Former Aggies
Kyler Fackrell, LB, Green Bay Packers (13-3)
Fackrell had two tackles, one sack and a quarterback hit in the Packers’ 37-20 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game.
Next Up: Season is over. Fackrell will become a free agent during the off-season.

Darwin Thompson, RB, Kansas City Chiefs (12-4)
Thompson ran the ball once for seven yards and was also targeted once but didn’t get the catch in the Chiefs’ 35-24 win over the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship game.
