MORAGA, Calif. – BYU star forward Yoeli Childs has been sidelined for tonight’s big WCC game against Saint Mary’s. Childs is missing the game due to an injury to his right index finger that he suffered in practice earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Childs left practice early after he suffered the injury to his finger. According to BYU head coach Mark Pope, Childs was “okay” after suffering the injury. During practice, Childs left the Marriott Center Annex court and was attended to by trainer Rob Ramos.

BYU enters tonight’s game against Saint Mary’s with a 12-4 overall record and 1-0 mark in West Coast Conference play. This season Childs has missed nine games due to an NCAA suspension and was sidelined in the second half against Utah after suffering cramps in the loss to the Utes.

According to BYU officials, Childs could be out for a week.

In games where Childs has not been suspended or injured, BYU has been undefeated this season, posting a 6-0 mark. The Cougars carry that six-game winning streak into University Credit Union Pavilion this evening against a Gaels team that is 14-3 and 1-1 in the WCC.

BYU is looking for its first victory in Moraga since 2014. The Cougars are 1-7 against Saint Mary’s in Moraga since becoming a member of the West Coast Conference.
