Utah Kicker Jadon Redding Rewarded Scholarship After Successful Freshman Season

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – After winning the place-kicking job during the 2019 season, Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham has given a scholarship to Jadon Redding.
The freshman from Fredricksburg, Virginia was originally the backup to Andrew Strauch in the season opener against BYU, but after a missed field goal and extra point, Redding was inserted and kept the job since then.
Whittingham had a scholarship during the season that he was saving for whoever emerged as the starting placekicker but had to earn it and Redding has done that and will be on scholarship going into his sophomore season, sources tell KSLSports.com.

Redding played in 13 games this season for the Utes and was sixth in the Pac-12 in kick scoring at 6.3 points per game. He made 9 of his 12 field goal attempts. His longest field goal was from 42-yards against Oregon State.
Against USC, he made three of his four field goal attempts. Redding made all 55 extra point attempts this season. He will have big shoes to fill as the last two kickers at Utah had great careers in Andy Phillips and Matt Gay.
