Mitchell, Gobert, Ingles Combine For 73 Points In Jazz Win Over Wolves

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Utah Jazz defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves behind 73 combined points from Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, and Joe Ingles.

The Jazz defeated the Wolves 127-116 at the Target Center on Wednesday, December 11.

Mitchell, Gobert, and Ingles connected on 30 of their 45 field goal attempts including 5-11 from three-point range by Mitchell and Ingles.

“We played a full game,” said Mitchell after the win. “We played together.”

The Jazz guard led the team in scoring with 30 points. It was his sixth 30 point game of the season. He went 13-20 on field goals and added 5 rebounds and 6 assists in 36 minutes of play.

Gobert was the only Jazzman to post a double-double in the win. It was his eighth consecutive game recording a double-double. He recorded 20 points, 16 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks in 36 minutes on the court.

The Stifle Tower held Minnesota’s Karl-Anthony Towns to 21 points on 6-15 shooting and 2-9 from behind the arc.

The victory was the first time that Ingles had scored more than 20 points in a game this season. It was the small forward’s fourth start in a row.

The Jazz continued to be without Mike Conley who is out with a hamstring injury.

Utah hasn’t had consistent play from its bench this season but they had it against the Timberwolves on Wednesday night. Utah’s backups combined for 34 points led by Emmanuel Mudiay’s 13 and eff Green’s 10.

The Jazz and Timberwolves were tied up at 59 entering the third quarter. The Jazz controlled the first twelve minutes after the break and won the quarter by 14 points.

Utah looked more connected on both ends of the floor against the Timberwolves than they have in recent weeks. They recorded 23 assists while shooting 56.6 percent and 45.6 percent from three.

The Jazz limited Minnesota was limited to 44 percent on field goals and 36.6 percent from downtown. The Wolves were led by Jeff Teague who scored 32 points off of the bench.

Utah improved to 14-11 overall and 5-8 on the road this season. Minnesota moved to 10-14 and 3-8 in Minneapolis.

The Jazz return back to Salt Lake City to host the Golden State Warriors on Friday, December 13 at 7 p.m. (MDT). The game will be broadcast on NBA League Pass, AT&T SportsNet, and 97.5 FM.
