Huntley is the second Utah football player to accept an invite to the Shrine Bowl, joining offensive lineman Darrin Paulo. Last year, Utah had three players participate in the Shrine Bowl, including kicker Matt Gay, offensive lineman Jackson Barton and linebacker Cody Barton.
All three of those players are currently on NFL rosters. Cody Barton is with the Seattle Seahawks, Jackson Barton is on the practice squad for the Indianapolis Colts and Matt Gay is the starting place kicker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Huntley has been sensational this season, throwing for 2,773 yards, completing 75 percent of his passes for 16 touchdowns and two interceptions. On the ground, Huntley has ran the ball 74 times for 255 yards and 5 touchdowns. His completion percentage is good for second in the nation behind LSU’s Joe Burrow. Huntley also has a 188.7 quarterback rating, which is good for fifth in the country, trailing only Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa, Burrow, Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts and Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields.
Utah will face No. 13 Oregon in the Pac-12 Championship game on Friday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The game will begin at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ABC.
The game will kickoff at 1 p.m. on January 18, 2020 and will be broadcast on the NFL Network.
