PROVO, Utah – Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell has always been willing to show up to local sporting events since he became a member of the Jazz in 2017.

On Thursday night, Mitchell was in attendance at BYU Soccer’s NCAA Tournament match against Spida’s alma mater, Louisville. It was the first time Mitchell attended a BYU sporting event since his rookie season in Utah. As a rookie, Mitchell attended a BYU basketball game to support his old high school friend and former BYU player Elijah Bryant.
This time, Mitchell was in attendance at the pitch where he was located near the Louisville sideline throughout the match.
Mitchell discussed why he attends local sporting events in an interview with BYUtv, “One, on top of just visiting schools, I love watching sports. I love being part of the community, that’s one of those things that’s always been important to me. Then as far as giving back, it’s important to show face, to show support, because it inspires people. Just trying to find any way I can at events like this.”
