SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Thunderbirds running back Targhee Lambson ran for four touchdowns in Timpview’s win over the Lehi Pioneers. The T-Birds secured a spot in the 5A championship game with the victory.

Lambson led the T-Birds to a 35-7 win over the Pioneers at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Thursday, November 14.

The Timpview back carried the ball 22 times for 213 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win.

“I mean it feels good,” Lambson told KSLSports.com’s Sam Farnsworth after the win. “We came together when the playoffs came around. Everybody was doubting us. We just want to follow in the footsteps of the other T-Birds. We take pride in that.”

The Thunderbirds opened the game with a 21-0 lead before the Pioneers got on the board with 4:18 left in the second quarter.

In the second half, it was all Timpview.

The Thunderbirds controlled the football and intercepted Lehi quarterback Creyton Cooper multiple times.

Timpview tacked on a couple more TDs in the third quarter. The first score was a 61-yard sprint from Lambson who was the only Thunderbird player to score at that point in the game.

“Targhee’s another special player,” said Timpview head coach Andy Stokes after Lambson’s big game.

Raider Damuni added a pick-six for the T-Birds final touchdown.

The Thunderbirds held on for a final of 35-7 to advance to the 5A championship game.

“Our defense played phenomenal football again as they have week in and week out and the kids played four quarters,” said Stokes. “We’re playing tough, tough hard-nosed football and the kids are playing the whole game.”

Cooper was 11/25 for 115 yards. Lehi running back Carsen Manookin carried the ball 17 times for 64 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

Timpview will face the Orem Tigers in the 5A final on Friday, November 22 at 6:30 p.m. (MDT). The game will be played at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City.
