Jaylon Johnson Has Crucial Pick-Six Against Washington

SEATTLE, Wash. – Utah Utes star cornerback Jaylon Johnson intercepted Washington quarterback Jacob Eason and returned the pick 39-yards into the end zone for a touchdown.

It was at a time when Utah needed it the most. They were trailing 21-13 to the Huskies towards the end of the third quarter and the Utes offense wasn’t getting a lot going, including two lost fumbles by Jordan Wilmore and Derrick Vickers. Washington wasn’t able to capitalize off of those miscues but Utah needed a spark and Johnson provided that.

Johnson collected his second interception of the season after picking off Anthony Gordon of Washington State back in September in Utah’s 38-13 win over the Cougars.

Eason threw his fifth interception of the season after passing for 232 yards and 3 touchdowns to that point. He entered the game against Utah with just three interceptions but threw two picks in the second half. The other pick was from Julian Blackmon earlier in the third quarter, but Utah went three-and-out on the following drive.

After the pick-six by Johnson, Utah couldn’t get the two-point conversion. Demari Simpkins caught a pass from Huntley and was on the goal line but the officials ruled that he didn’t cross the goal line. After further review, the ruling stood as called because the replay officials didn’t have a camera on the goal line.
