‘Sports Equinox’ Occurs For 21st Time In History

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – For just the 21st time in history, all four major sports leagues in the United States (NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL) where they will have at least one game played in each league on the same day.
On Sunday, the NFL had a full slate of games with 13 contests in Week 8 of the season. The NBA had five games on the schedule as the season is in its first week of action. In hockey, the NHL is underway as well with seven games on Sunday. Finally, game five of the World Series will be played on Sunday in Washington D.C. as the Nationals and the Houston Astros are tied at two games apiece.
According to ESPN Stats and Info, it is the only day in 2019 that the Sports Equinox is possible. It’s never happened twice in a single year.

The last one was last year when the city of Los Angeles had the “super equinox” when the city hosted five major professional U.S. sports leagues playing a game in the same metropolitan area on the same day.
That was when the Los Angeles Kings hosted the New York Rangers at Staples Center at 12:30 p.m. PT, the Los Angeles Rams played the Green Bay Packers at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum at 1:25 p.m. PT, the Los Angeles Galaxy played the Houston Dynamo at the StubHub Center at 1:30 p.m. PT. Also, the Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the Boston Red Sox in the World Series at 5:15 p.m. PT and the Los Angeles Clippers played the Washington Wizards at Staples Center at 6:30 p.m. PT.
