BYU’s Defense Holds On Opening Possession For 1st Time In 2019

TOLEDO, Ohio – The BYU defense prevented their opponent from scoring on the opening possession for the first time of the 2019 season.
The Cougars held Toledo on the Rockets’ first possession on Saturday, September 28.
It was the first time BYU forced an opponent to punt to open a game this season.

The Cougars allowed teams to score on their first drive in each of BYU’s first four games.
BYU allowed a field goal to the Utes in the first game of 2019. Tennessee, USC, and Washington each scored touchdowns on their first possessions.
For the first time this season, BYU’s opponent has been kept without a score on its first drive of the game (Utah FG, Tennessee TD, USC TD, Washington TD, Toledo punt).
