Utes Fumble Near Goal Line Before Halftime

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Utah Utes were about to punch in a touchdown before halftime that would have given them the lead, but USC forced and recovered a fumble.
Utah was about six yards away from the end zone with 16 seconds left in the first half when quarterback Tyler Huntley handed the ball off to running back Devin Brumfield, who had the ball knocked out of his hands and USC recovered.
It’s only Utah’s second turnover of the season with their only other giveaway coming against Idaho State last week.

Through the first two weeks of the season, Utah was the only FBS program to have not given up a sack or turn over the ball.
USC scored both of their touchdowns early in the first quarter on their first two drives as quarterback Matt Fink threw two scores through the air after entering the game for true freshman quarterback Kedon Slovis was hit on the second play of the game by Utah defensive tackle Leki Fotu.
The Utes played most of the second quarter without star running back Zack Moss, who suffered a shoulder injury.
