Whittingham Adds To Penalties, Called For Unsportsmanlike Conduct

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham was called for unsportsmanlike conduct during the second quarter of the Utes’ game against USC Trojans. It was the seventh penalty of the first half against Whittingham’s team.
Frustrated with the way the game against the Trojans was being officiated, Whittingham let the referees know his feelings and was flagged for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
The officials penalized the Utes five yards which set the team back to a 2nd down with 25 yards to go for a first down.
The first half was full of penalties against both squads. The Utes were called for nine penalties for 75 yards. The Trojans were penalized six times for 67 yards.

Whittingham and USC’s head coach, Clay Helton, were both frustrated during the beginning 30 minutes of football. Each team experienced unsportsmanlike conducts calls.
The Utes were down 14-10 at halftime against the Trojans.
