Mentors, Former Players Congratulated Kalani Sitake After USC Win

PROVO, Utah – After BYU’s big win last Saturday over USC, there was a strong showing of support for Kalani Sitake and his program getting the victory on social media. The kind messages carried over to Sitake’s cell phone as well.
Sitake received congratulatory texts from numerous people after BYU’s win over the Trojans.
Everyone had BYU starting 0-4 … MAYBE 1-3 with an upset win.

“There’s always a bunch of text messages where it’s Steve Young, Andy Reid, and all of the football alumni, and a lot of former players that played for me at other schools and things like that reaching out,” said Sitake. “I appreciate everyone’s compliments and excitement and it’s been really cool. Always thankful for the connections I have with a lot of different people, it’s been an honor for me. It took me a while to respond to people via text but I did it.”
Individuals like Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid have stepped in as an important mentor for Sitake since the passing of former BYU head coach LaVell Edwards in 2016.
Former BYU quarterback and NFL Hall of Fame inductee Steve Young has always been supportive of Sitake and the Cougar football program in any way that he can.

These congratulatory words come at a time where Sitake is working to earn a contract extension with his employer and the outpouring of support from notable alumni and football minds can only help his support towards securing another extension. But the ultimate ticket towards getting the next contract is continuing to pull off big wins like the one he and his BYU team had on Saturday against USC.
