Fonua Interception Leads To BYU Touchdown To Open Second Half

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee – BYU linebacker Kavika Fonua’s interception of Tennessee quarterback Jarrett Guarantano provided the BYU Cougars a spark and led to a 16-yard touchdown run by Ty’Son Williams early in the third quarter.
The Tennessee Volunteers opened the second half of Saturday’s game with possession of the football, but the Vols only possessed the ball for 53 seconds before Fonua’s pick.
The Cougars were injected with some momentum and attacked the Volunteers defense with a three-play, 20-yard drive that was capped with a Williams TD run.

The BYU touchdown got the Cougars back in the game and only three points behind the Vols, 13-10.
Fonua’s interception was the first of his career. It was the first turnover for either team in Saturday’s game.
Williams 16-yard TD run was his second touchdown of the season. He had one touchdown in the Cougars first game against Utah.
