Sen. Mitt Romney Picks Sides In Rivalry: Cougars All The Way

PROVO, Utah – Tonight marks the first installment of the BYU-Utah football rivalry game since Mitt Romney took the office of Senator in the state of Utah this past January.
Senator Romney went to social media on Thursday to weigh in on the big rivalry game.

“So this is rivalry week. Politicians are told that they really have to represent all the universities of our fine state and show respect for whichever team might win. You know, to heck with that. Go Cougs. I’m BYU blue through and through. Let’s win this one,” Romney said.
Romney earned his Bachelors degree from Brigham Young University in 1971. Romney has a nephew on this year’s BYU football team named Gunner Romney who plays wide receiver.
Utah enters Thursday night’s game as the 14th ranked team in the preseason AP Top 25 poll. The Utes have won eight consecutive games in this rivalry matchup. BYU’s last win against Utah came in 2009, 10 years ago.
To get ready for tonight’s game tune in to KSL-TV’s one-hour pregame show beginning at 7 p.m. (MDT) from Provo. Kickoff tonight between No. 14 Utah and BYU is at 8:20 p.m. and can be heard on KSL Newsradio.
