Watch: Heartwarming Moment At BYU Football Practice For ‘True Blue Hero’

PROVO, Utah – The BYU football team closed out Day 14 of fall camp practice on Thursday with a heartwarming moment.

On the final play of practice, the players brought out a young man by the name of Michael, one of BYU’s “True Blue Heroes”, onto the field.

The “True Blue Heroes” program started in the fall of 2016 as part of Kalani Sitake’s More 2 Life Foundation.  Throughout the football season, “True Blue Heroes” are chosen by the team to be honored at one of the weekly practices. Typically the heroes are children who are overcoming significant challenges in life.

Michael is one of the selected few of the “True Blue Heroes” program.  Michael’s connection with BYU Football dates back to the Thursday’s Heroes program that was started by former head coach Bronco Mendenhall years ago.

BYU quarterback Joe Critchlow handed the ball off to Michael and the players gathered around him as he drove into the endzone for a touchdown.  The entire team then circled around Michael and celebrated his touchdown to close out the practice.
