PROVO, Utah – The 2019 BYU football season is here. Celebrate and rejoice.

One of the annual rites of passage, when fall camp opens up, is gear being distributed by BYU equipment manager Mick Hill.  It’s a Christmas morning type of feeling for the student-athletes who are preparing for a new season of Cougar football.

BYU head coach Kalani Sitake has made it a point of emphasis in his program to get his player’s as much gear and apparel as they can possibly give them.

From Nike Vapor cleats to Nike bucket hats, players on the football team received all the necessary swag they could ever need.  Each player had a bag waiting for them in the equipment room with their name on it.  Each bag’s nametag at the bottom read, “Go Cougars! Beat Utah!”

Players received t-shirts in royal blue and black that featured the word “BOLD” on the front of the shirts.

Back in June, Sitake hopped on Cougar Sports Saturday on KSL Newsradio and said that he wanted his team to be ‘bold’ entering the upcoming Utah game and to take ownership of their program.

RIVALRY GAME SEASON OPENER: BYU Football head coach Kalani Sitake says the team is “hungry” and excited to start the season at LaVell Edwards Stadium against the Utes. Is that hunger enough to give the Cougars their first win over Utah since 2009?More from Coach Sitake on Cougar Sports Saturday at 12:20 p.m. on KSL Newsradio.

Other items the players received included Dri-Fit shirts, Nike slides, tennis shoes, and hats.

Along with apparel and swag, the players received iPads from the football video staff.

The Cougars have a new video coordinator this season as their previous award-winning coordinator Errol Seaver left for NC State earlier this spring.  The new coordinator is Brayden Woodall and he gave the players their iPads after gear and apparel were distributed.  With the iPads, players can access the film after the conclusion of practices and games.

Practices begin on Wednesday evening at the Student-Athlete Building on BYU’s campus.
