Nick Rimando Becomes First Player To Appear In 500 MLS Games

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Real Salt Lake will face the San Jose Earthquakes, which will give RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando a big milestone.
He is the first player in Major League Soccer history to play in 500 MLS matches.
Rimando is in his 20th and final season of his career and 13 seasons with Real Salt Lake.

The 40-year-old is Major League Soccer’s all-time leader in wins with 213, shutouts with 146, 497 games played, and 1,662 saves.
Rimando has won MLS Cup twice in his career, the first with D.C. United in 2004 and Real Salt Lake in 2009, earning MLS Cup MVP honors with RSL.
He was named to his eighth All-Star game on June 24th by MLS Commissioner Don Garber. The game will be played on July 31 in Orlando, Florida.
This season, Rimando has played in 14 games and has 35 saves on 22 goals allowed.
Rimando is the first goalkeeper in MLS history to reach 200 wins, achieving that milestone last season against D.C. United.
