Mitchell, Gobert React To Earthquake In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – A 7.1 earthquake rocked Southern California on Friday night that went into Las Vegas and interrupted NBA Summer League play.

The New Orleans Pelicans and the New York Knicks were squaring off at the time of the earthquake at the Thomas & Mack Center, which stopped play and ended the game with just over seven minutes left in the fourth quarter.

The reason for the permanent stoppage was the jumbotron and giant speakers that were swaying back and forth from the earthquake.

Utah Jazz players were at the arena to watch No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson make his NBA debut with the New Orleans Pelicans against his college teammate at Duke, R.J. Barrett, who made his first NBA appearance with the New York Knicks.

After the earthquake, Jazz players took to Twitter.

Donovan Mitchell’s mother felt the earthquake as well.

It doesn’t sound like Rudy Gobert was at the Thomas & Mack Center but he is in Las Vegas and watched the Jazz beat the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday.
