BARCELONA, Spain – Former BYU basketball star Brandon Davies has officially signed his new contract with FC Barcelona.

FC Barcelona participates in the EuroLeague, which is the top-tier league in all of European basketball.

For the past two years, Davies has been competing for Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania. Davies helped lead BC Zalgiris to their first EuroLeague Final Four in 19 years during the 2017-18 season.

Last season, Davies was named one of the top five players in the EuroLeague for his play with BC Zalgiris.

Davies averaged 14 points and five rebounds per game in EuroLeague action this past year with Zalgiris.

Because of Davies stellar play with Zalgiris, there was a lot of interest from bigger EuroLeague teams. The all-time leader in EuroLeague titles Real Madrid was in advanced talks to sign the former BYU standout, along with CSKW Moscow, but ultimately Davies ended up with FC Barcelona.

Davies signed a two-year contract that will keep him with Barcelona until June 30th, 2021.

“Very excited to be here and very excited to get things going and get to work,” said Davies on his first day getting introduced as a member of FC Barcelona.

Some familiar basketball names are on FC Barcelona’s roster for the 2019-20 season along with Davies.  Former Utah Jazz second-round draft pick in the 2008 NBA Draft Ante Tomic is Barcelona’s captain.  Also, former Gonzaga star and WCC Player of the Year Kevin Pangos is on Barcelona’s roster.  Pangos was also teammates with Davies at Zalgiris during the 2017-18 season.

Davies played at BYU from 2009 to 2013 and helped BYU to three NCAA Tournament appearances and a run to the NIT Final Four in Madison Square Garden his senior season.
